Yesterday was the local expo, which I've wanted to go to one since I got Cloud, and I was finally able to go! Mostly because it was in-town. haha It was a very small expo, but there was a good variety, which was awesome. There were two vendors selling retics, of which one had like 10 retics on display, which is where I got my little girl. They had some really nice-looking boa constrictors and retics on display. They had a young Hog Island on display that was already looking like a really nice Hog, in really good shape, too. I really wish I would have remembered to take pictures at their booth, but I was so busy ogling all the awesome snakes. :/ They were my favorite booth by far, though. The guy also had a nice conservative feeding schedule mentality, which I can get behind.
As far as what was there, there was a lot of retics, boa constrictors, and ball pythons. As far as snakes go, I also saw a Calabar ground boa, a couple of Amazon tree boas, green tree pythons, emerald tree boas, blood pythons, house snakes, an extremely defensive paradise tree snake, ratsnakes, kingsnakes, milksnakes, a couple hognoses, and a couple of corn snakes. There were some monitors, tegus, albino bullfrogs, uromastyx, crested geckos, gargoyle geckos, leopard geckos, hedgehogs, pigs, rabbits, degus, finches, and a bunch of others. My mom saw the axolotls there, and now she's dead-set on getting some to breed. *rolls eyes*
I know I said I'd wait to get one but....I went ahead and got a reticulated python. She's a female poss het purple albino reticulated python, born somewhere around October, so she's about 6 months old, or 2 months younger than Sanji. The breeder wasn't there, but one of the vendors there on behalf of them said that she thought she was hatched thereabouts. She's about 3'-3.5' and weighs 150 grams. She was easily the best looking retic at the show, if not the best-looking snake. I'm thinking about naming her Riverrun, but name suggestions are still welcomed.
She's got a slight bit of nose rub and some dry scales, but it looks very minor so I think it's just from the ride to the expo. Hopefully with some humidity and plenty of room she'll clear right up. There's no sign of mites or illness to her, so that's good.
I had her out during the expo because she didn't seem to like being in the plastic container (I don't blame her!), and she spent most of her time sleeping on my arm or crawling on top of my head. She was very laid back and didn't seem stressed out at all about the whole situation, which is good, hopefully she'll stay that way. She's in Draco's tank temporarily while I have some heat tape shipped in, so that she will have some heat as it will take about 5-7 days for the tape to get here. Then, when I get the heat tape I've got a nice 61 qt tub to set up for her, and I'll give Cloud's Herpstat 2 to her and Sanji to run their heat tapes. I'll eventually get two more Herpstat 2's to run the set of RHP's and CHE's in the enclosures, as I plan on putting Bud back into his 6' enclosure until Riverrun gets some size on her.
She's spending most of her time basking under the heat lamp, but she's also been cruising around exploring and I saw her take a sip from the water dish. She saw me come and look at her, and immediately zeroed in on me and started crawling towards me, tongue a-flicking. She seems just as aware of her surroundings as Draco is, and even followed my finger a bit. Having my first poop painting from her is going to be fun, though! Looking forward to that. lol She's still laid back, and didn't protest at all when I took her out real quick to show her to my brother and clean up the little bit of urates she left. Now to force myself to leave her alone for the next week or so. D:

New Laptop Incoming
I'm going to be holding back on uploading a lot of photos until my new laptop arrives. There are some photos in my Stash that I want to run through PhotoShop, but my current computer can't run LightRoom since it requires the newest Windows. My old computer is also nearly 5 years old and slowly biting the dust, so a new computer is long overdue! I'll probably upload a few more photos before I get the laptop here and set up, if the photos look fine unedited, but I'd like to practice and refine using PS since I generally post unedited photos. :)
Crazy Life
Sooo....I know a long time ago I said I'd be on here again, but life has gotten pretty hectic. A basic rundown:
-I have lost all 4 of my rainbows. 3 of them have died from mysterious causes, and I lost Homura while my mom was caring for her. She either escaped and was never found, or was cannibalized. Crona also escaped (but was quickly found and is still with me to this day), and my mom put him in her tub on accident. The reason I suspect he ate her was because she was nowhere to be found, and he had a very suspicious bulge despite not eating in over 2 months at that time. So yeah. All of my other snakes appear perfectly healthy, and
Return?
After a long hiatus, I have decided that I may come back here to DA. I doubt there will be much fanfare as things are pretty dead on my account usually, but I like the more social media aspect of DA vs Flikr, as there is more to do here. I will still keep both, but I will likely just be a lot more selective here. Only downfall to DA is how clunky it is to mass upload photos. Get ready for an influx of photos sometime soon.
May Leave DA
After seeing a rash of artist's having their work stolen/sold by DA (including photographers), I am thinking of leaving DA. As of right now, I don't plan on making money from my photography, but I don't like the idea of having my work sold willy-nilly around the web. I have a bunch of photos in my st.ash right now and even more I have yet to upload but I probably won't bother. I have instead uploaded the majority of my good/good-ish photos to Flikr, and I frequent Tumblr alot so if anyone wants to follow those, my Tumblr url is odorpatrol and my Flikr is here.
I may still keep my account to browse and in case I want start coming back, but

Oh my god, they had albino bullfrogs??!!!! I want one sooo bad, but I have never seen one here at the show. I missed the last show due to weather, but this one I am determined I won't miss.
I need to get some proper water bowls, and more roaches for Theo; and maybe a few more rats, some large mice, and probably the next size under for Kali (although she may be able to take large). I got a buttload of larger pinks from Layne Labs.
New critters in my future? I don't know, my room is damned crowded. Female tarantulas for sure though, if anyone has any. I am considering getting a female 100% het albino hoggie to breed with Vincent actually, but that all depends on...well, a lot of things. Not this show, for sure. Honestly I'm not sure I should get anymore animals before I go on my week-long vacation, hah! I have avoided temptations before! But if I were to see the albino bullsnake on the top of my list, well, he'd be coming home with me!
